Sophie Lang is an IB graduate from the Vienna International School (2015) with BA and MSc degrees in Psychology and Pedagogy. After studying in the Netherlands and the United States, she has found her calling in working with young people of all ages – particularly those with international backgrounds – to help increase their agency and cross-cultural understanding.

For Mid IB Students
1. IB Writing Support

TOK is a compulsory part of the IB Diploma. This course will help you learn to discuss philosophical, moral and ethical questions. The TOK assessment criteria and their application will be explained. Students will receive a total of 2 hours guidance in and out of class to support their TOK course work and to help them maximize their overall TOK grade.

Our IB subject specialists will assist and consult you on an individual basis to make the most out of your Extended Essay. The sessions are usually spread over a couple of days. This will allow you to work on your essay between sessions. Please note that this support builds upon but does not replace the supervision that you receive at school.

This retreat offers you the perfect environment to concentrate getting your Extended Essay in great shape before the school year resumes. We will offer you structural support from our IB coaches plus 30-minute-daily IBO-conforming advice from one of our highly experienced IB specialists in your required field of study. This will ensure you get your Extended Essay draft completed or close to completed by the end of the retreat. Our IB subject specialist will assist you for a total of 2 hours, spread over 4 days. While the primary objective of this course is to guide students in crafting a compelling candidacy for admission into prestigious universities in the UK, Central Europe, Canada, and the U.S., it goes beyond that. More than just application mechanics, this course instills in students the practical knowledge, adeptness, and mindset crucial for success in the university application process. This is a highly specific course introducing students to the Oxford/Cambridge application procedure, and is run by our superb U.K. Oxbridge university specialist. This session is also suitable for students applying to similar highly competitive universities and programmes.
3. Mathematics

This mini course is designed to give you the skills needed to write a strong mathematics HL or SL Internal Assessment.
At the end of this course:
- You will have a solid understanding of the assessment criteria for the new syllabus.
- You will understand how to write a good, complete, and interesting Exploration.
- You will have chosen an appropriate topic to explore.
- You will have written a good introduction with an aim, rationale, and background information.
- You will have gained additional knowledge of the technology necessary to make a good presentation.
If you have already started your IA, the advice you get in this course will be invaluable to developing it. If you follow through with the advice given to you, you will make great progress towards completing your exploration by the time you leave IBWISE. The course will be taught by two IB senior examiners.

In this class you will learn how to use your graphics calculator effectively. This will not only help you to produce excellent homework assignments and math internal assessments but most importantly save valuable time on your examinations, as you will be able to work faster and electronically check complex calculations.

In this workshop, we’ll delve deep into your current beliefs and understandings about shaping your future. Through diverse activities, you’ll gain a clearer understanding of your own identity, your goals, and the steps you can take to actively chart your journey forward.
We’ll employ components from ‘YrGaMe’, an innovative “life-scaping” tool, to empower and guide you on an individual level. Through this, you’ll discover how to position yourself for success, seize opportunities, navigate transitions smoothly, and further cultivate your independence.
